Initial Exam
During the initial examination, Dr. Byron will be able to determine the best possible treatment for your individual needs. He can outline the possible treatment, time of treatment expected and the approximate fees associated with treatment.
Early and Adolescent Treatment
Early evaluation provides both timely detection of problems and greater opportunity for more effective treatment. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that the initial orthodontic evaluation should occur at the first sign of orthodontic problems or no later than age 7. At this early age, orthodontic treatment may not be necessary, but vigilant examination can anticipate the most advantageous time to begin treatment.
Though an orthodontist can enhance a smile at any age, there is an optimal time period to begin treatment. Beginning treatment at this time ensures the greatest possible result with the least amount of time spent in braces.
The most common age to begin treatment is between the ages of 11 to 15. Typically by age 12, most of the permanent teeth have erupted and are in place. Crowded teeth, spaces, and bad bites can be easily detected. Because these problems rarely correct themselves, most decide to seek orthodontic treatment.
